August Catch Up Part 3

This year we got to go to the Northwest Washington Fair while we were in Lynden!  We hadn't been up there that time of year in over four years.  It was so fun.  I have so many wonderful memories of the fair.  We would go every year and my Grandpa and Grandma's backyard backed right up to the fair.  We would park there and go to the fair and take breaks at Grandma and Grandpa's.  I want Lane and Estelle to have great memories of the fair too so I am so glad we went.
Lane and Eli are one month apart and great buds.  They played forever on the tractors.

The first day we hung out with my friend Anya and her kids and then met up with my sister Lesha and her family for the demolition derby that night.  Emmy (above) loved Estelle and was such a good little mommy to her.  But Estelle being her sassy self kept trying to push Emmy out of the picture....

....which resulted in Estelle sitting in the tractor bucket by herself and posing.  Oh my.

Lane and Kai enjoying the Demolition Derby!  The derby is so funny.  For those of you civilized people who don't know what this is, let me explain.  A demo derby is when  guys around the county prepare old cars for the demo derby and drive them in the demo derby where they proceed to crash into each other over and over until there is one car left standing.  My brothers and brothers-in-law have once been involved in this process.  This is an all year thing, they spend months preparing for the derby, it's a big deal.  Now that I live in San Diego, I realize that not everyone would think this is entertainment.  But I am proud to be from a town that has a demo derby (or as Lane would say "dumbo derby").  Good clean fun.

The kids spent one day on the rides.  Michele and Lesha's kids and Kristen's kids joined Lane that day.  Lane only threw up once...on a ride, the Carny hosed it down, no worries.  Sweet.
On Thursday night I met up with Michele, Lesha, Matt and Kristen for the Heart concert.  We went out for Mexican first.  Phillip was invited but he chose to watch Michele's boys for her. What a nice bro.
Lesha, Kristen, me and Matt at Cancun!
HEART!  I may have been born in the 80's but I can still rock out to some Heart!

Love these guys! I can honestly say that I can't remember a time that I spent up in Lynden that I had more fun.  Maybe it is Estelle getting older and sleeping better on vacation.  Or maybe I desperately needed a break from "real life."  It was so refreshing to get up there and enjoy my friends and family and a little bit of the "country life" that I miss so much.  More pics to come.

August Catch Up Part 2

Me and the kids headed up to Washington on August 5th.  The first week we stayed at Reese's parents and spent much of the time seeing a lot of friends and family.  My Uncle Joe and Aunt Barb hosted a big family BBQ at their house in Sandy Point.  It was such a great night for it.  Lane and Kai even tried to build a raft (above).  We got to see a lot of my cousins and most my aunts and uncles and my Grandma Dorothy, it was great to see everyone!
 Estelle and Matt
Estelle is not used to rocky beaches, just sandy ones.  She like picking up the rocks and putting them in a bucket.
Aunt Barb even organized sack races :)  Lane is doing the "boom boom fire power" dance
Estelle and Abby had lots of fun in Mop and Poopa's (Grandma and Grandpa's) backyard

These two are 3 months apart.  They were pretty funny together.

August Catch Up Part 1

Now that we are almost all the way through August, I have some catching up to do.  First Mop (Grandma Laura) came to visit.  We went to the beach, Safari Park, and roamed around Hotel Del Coronado.

We found a cheetah named Amara at the Safari Park.  Had to take this for my niece Amara!

Me and the kids ended up flying up with Laura to Washington.  More pictures of that to come.  It's been a busy but fun month.
