Halloween Festivities

These are the cookies I decorated this year.
Our pumpkins this year. We carved them with daddy last night. The witch turned out so much better then I thought it would and it didn't take too long.
We went to our friends Kyle and Leah's house tonight for dinner and trick or treating.
My Indiana Jones. He made quite the handsome Indy.
Sweet little chile pepper. He's been such a good boy, sleeping at night, hardly ever cries! I am SO blessed!
Michele sent this onesie when he was born. The little ghosts glow in the dark. That was a highlight for Lane :)

Lane turns 5!

We had Lane's birthday party on Saturday. He invited 5 boys over for a Hotwheels party. My friend Elaina brought their inflatable jumpy thing, we had a pinata and they played with Hotwheels tracks. They had fun, it was only 2 hours long, and they didn't destroy my house! A fun time was had by all :)

Opening presents. He got Jenga from one of his buddies and loves it!
No Hotwheels pinatas so I had to go with the baseball one. He'd never had one at his birthday party before so this was a fun addition.
I didn't over do it this year. If you'll remember back to last year when Reese thought I "Clark W. Griswold everything to death." This year I did a lot less. I did make the cake though. It was a race track cake and it ended up turning out alright, it just stressed me out little bit while I was doing it. My original plan was to dye coconut green for the "grass" Then it dawned on me that most 5 year olds probably wouldn't want to eat coconut on cake so I improvised. I just used a star tip on a piping bag and went all around the cake with it. Like the kids even care!
Lane must have told a really funny joke in this picture.

And just so I don't leave Case out. Here is a little picture of him in the jumper. He can hold his head up really well so we put him in it for a little while the other day. What a big boy!

Pumpkin Patch Fun

Hunter, Lane, Kristian, Elaina, and me
We made plans to meet Elaina and boys at Bates Nut Farm yesterday. Reese had the day off so he came along too. I love these cut outs for pictures.

I so wanted Case's head to peeking through too but that would have been a little tricky :)
There he is, isn't he a chunky monkey!
Case's first hayride.
Here's Lane's beautiful pose in the pumpkins :) He is such a cheeser. We had a fun day. We planned to go on a weekday this year because last year was CRAZY on the weekend! It was much better this year. Since Reese came along, Elaina and I got to look around in their adorable gift shop without boys! As a side note I found this sign at the gift shop that I wish I would have bought. Maybe I will order it. Isn't it great! I live near the beach and love to bake, how fitting and remember all the vintage signs I have in my dining room. Must buy vintage tin sign....

Fall Carnival

Our recreation center had a fall carnival tonight. It was not nearly as cool as last years but Lane still had fun. Also it gives us another opportunity to use those Halloween costumes we spend so much money on. I found a costume for Case at a thrift store. What a cute little chile pepper he is!!
Lane is none other than Indiana Jones!
Lasooing (how the heck do you spell that??) a calf.
Shooting paintballs. They had a mechanical bull but he didn't ride it. I think it made him a little nervous. He thought it was great. On our way home he kept saying "that was a great night"

On another note, I've found a couple good recipes the last couple days. I made Chocolate No Bakes yesterday. Here is the recipe, it is the best one I've ever found. The only thing I changed was that I added 1/2 cup peanut butter.

I had some pork chops to use today and I wanted to use the crock pot. This was a wonderful recipe. Lane asked for seconds....that NEVER happens! I served it over rice. Green beans or broccoli would go well with it too.

A very yummy weekend

Bread rising...
A little crusty bread, recipe found here. If you're reading this Tami thanks for sharing! Such a simple, yet special bread!
Some Poblano Chicken Chowder courtesy of Paula Deen found here. A little glass of Pinot Grigio. All of this made one yummy Sunday night dinner. As a little side note, I don't use Poblano peppers because my store doesn't have them. I use either Anaheim or Pasilla peppers. Oh and it's not spicy at all despite the peppers and hot sauce. Lane eats it and loves it.
Don't forget dessert. If you remember a while back I mentioned my waffle cone maker. Well in all my pregnant-ness over the summer I bought an ice cream maker!! This just happens to be Cake Batter Ice Cream. I add sprinkles and we call it birthday cake ice cream.

I told my sister a few weeks ago, I got my mojo back. After having a baby you feel weird for...oh...6 weeks. Atleast I do, I had forgot about that part. Anyway, aside from not being able to get all the things done that are in my little over achieving head, I feel like I am back to normal. And despite having the swine flu and impetigo in our house since I had Case...I got my mojo back.

What we've been up to

Last weekend we went to the zoo. We are so lucky to have a great zoo so close by. We have annual memberships so it's a fun way to just spend a few hours. They just built a new area called Elephant Odyssey. It's really cool and Lane loves going there and checking everything out.

Case is smiling so much these days. One of those smiles just makes my day!
I put him in his crib to take a few pictures and he wouldn't look up at me because I think he discoved his feet! Look at all those rolls! I just love my chubby babies!

Jog A Thon

Lane had a Jog A Thon fundraiser last week. He was pretty pumped about it and even called his Mop (Grandma) for a donation. That's huge since he can't stand talking on the phone. He took it quite seriously. They didn't count laps for them but he pretty much ran the whole time. The highlight was the popsicles they had afterward :)
