Memorial Day

Have a great, relaxing Memorial Day. Take some time out to think about and honor all of those who have served and are currently serving our still great country!

Zoo Field Trip

Lane had a zoo field trip a couple of weeks ago. Here are the pictures finally. It was fun to go around with all the kids and see the things they notice. I am excited that I got to go on his very first fieldtrip! He rode the bus along with all the other kids and I met them there. The bus ride was the most exciting part for him I think.

Lane's teacher has a friend that works with the Koala's at the zoo, so we got a close up encounter with a koala. The kids thought that was very cool.

A Weekend Getaway

Over the weekend we went and stayed at a beautiful hotel for two nights. It's only a little ways from our house, but just far enough to feel like we got away. We stayed at this hotel about 10 years ago with Reese's family when his brother Jordan graduated bootcamp and again on our first anniversary. We spent a lot of time in the pool this weekend and went to visit the Wild Animal Park too. Lane LOVES the petting area. He loved those deer and would look at them like he was seeing the most precious thing in the whole world! I finally got a few more good shots of Lane too which are always good to have.

Been Junkin'

Before

After

I found this bench out in front of my neighbors house after they had moved. So I snatched it up, bought a can of spray paint for $3.44 and here is the finished product! I even got Reese to spray paint it for me! I've junked a few things in my day. In Sumas I grabbed an old wagon wheel and put in one of my flower beds. I also got an old pressure cooker and a bunch of jars in Lynden once. The pressure cooker gauge ended up being broken, but the canning jars came in handy. Junkin' is even better than Thriftin' cause it's free!

Here is a picture of my flower bed. I love it because I can see it out my kitchen window. I am hoping that I can take a picture in a couple months and have blooming sunflowers in front of that dead bush and morning glories climbing the trellis. I have all them growing you just can't see them cause they are still quite small. I need to put more snail bait out, I noticed I have a few sunflowers down. I am excited about the "yard" at this house. I have more places to plant things and I am taking full advantage. I think I even have a place for a zucchini and butternut squash plant on the side of the house! Once again I am sure my neighbors think I am nuts. I am always out there planting more or repotting things. Today I was out taking pictures of it. Yesterday Lane was driving his John Deere Gator around pulling his red wagon behind it. He was wearing a life jacket, had a butterfly net propped up on the back of his Gator and he was waving to invisible people like he was in a parade. We so belong on a couple acres out in the country! I am sure we are entertaining though.

Busy Weekend

Over the weekend our friend from school KC came down to visit. We did all sorts of fun stuff. On Saturday we went to the Midway Museum. It is a retired Navy aircraft carrier. Reese and I had seen it once before, but Lane had never seen it. He thought it was very cool. He is in the cockpit of a fighter jet in the picture above. The picture below pretty much sums up our recent "family pictures" Reese and I smiling nicely with our adorable little boy's backside in between us!! What a stinker! That night we had a BBQ on the beach with some of our friends and I ate enough smores for everyone!

On Sunday we went to Seaworld. We have been there quite a few times before but we've never taken the time to see almost everything in one day. We watched the Shamu show, the Dolphin show and the Sea Lion and Otter show. We love the Sea Lion one. It was hilarious. The boys also went on a couple rides and I was there to get some pictures. If you click on the one below you can see Lane's face. When he realized that they were going to get wet, he told them that this wasn't such a good idea. Then after he got wet he told them that he was "all soaked up"

Lane touching a starfish.

Little belly shot for you guys (24 weeks). It was a fun weekend. Yesterday... I crashed. Friday Lane had a field trip to the zoo, Saturday there was the Midway and a BBQ, and Sunday, Seaworld. I am feeling back to normal today, just needed a good days rest! I will post some pictures of Lane's field trip soon.
